ISTD hosted a group of 36 pre-university students for the second run of the one-day Design Innovation Computing workshop on 23 June 2022, held at the SUTD campus, targeting students for university admission in year 2023. Similar to the first run, student participants are assessed to determine their eligibility for university admission in year 2023 under early admission exercise in Nov 2022, with partial module exemption as well as possibility of scholarships/awards.
These students were invited to participate in this workshop based on their performance in an online programming assessment test. During this workshop, the students learnt about design thinking and how to apply it to build an innovative software solution. Web frameworks for quick software prototyping, test-driven development, and pair programming were also introduced. Students who did well in the workshop were then invited to apply for admission to SUTD under the Early Admission Exercise in Nov 2022. When admitted to SUTD, these students may also qualify for partial module exemption as well as scholarships/awards. This workshop was conducted by our faculty members, Oka, Norman and Ngai-Man.
