Biography
Simon Perrault is currently an Assistant Professor at SUTD (Singapore) since January 2019. He was also a visiting professor at KAIST (Korea) in 2018 and an Assistant Professor at Yale-NUS college (Singapore) between 2015 and 2018.
He received his PhD in Computer Science in Telecom ParisTech (France). He defended his PhD in April 2013, and joined the National University of Singapore (NUS) in December 2013 as a post-doctoral researcher.
Dr Perrault’s research interest is in the area of Human Computer Interaction, and more specifically on mobile and wearable interaction. Because users carry their mobile and wearable devices at nearly any given time in a day, improving interaction between users and devices is a hard yet needed task.
By doing so, we aim to make users’ lives easier and enhance the quality of communication between users through their devices. In concrete terms, Dr Perrault designs new interaction techniques and wearable devices and tries to get a better understanding of human behaviour in mobile contexts. His research lies within human computer interaction, experimental psychology and electronics.
Education
- 2013: PhD in Computer Science, Telecom ParisTech (France)
- 2008: MSc in Computer Science, Universite Lille 1 (France)
- 2005: BSc in Computer Science, Universite Lille 1 (France)
Research Interest
I am an HCI researcher, and therefore focus on improving interactions between people and computers. My research interests are broad, and span from assistive technologies to wearable computing and civic tech.
Research Opportunities
I am looking for students to work with in either civic tech or wearable/mobile interaction. I am specifically looking for Student Helpers (SUTD students) to do prototype design and user testing, or PhD students.
Please contact me for enquiries. More information on PhD scholarships can be found here:
