The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) seeks to hire qualified individuals to fill several Post-Doctorals and Research Assistants positions in the following areas:

(1) Detection of Malicious and Deceived Insiders (MO)

The successful candidates will work in the design and evaluation of novel detection algorithms for the protection of critical infrastructures and general IT infrastructures.

Position Expectation & Qualifications
Research Assistant The ideal candidates are expected to have a background in one of the following areas:

  • Software engineering.
  • Applied software and/or systems security, such as intrusion or malware detection, forensics and monitoring.
  • Applied machine learning, such as natural language processing, deep learning, transfer learning.
  • Big data analytics.
  • Privacy enhancing technologies.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • PhD in one of the above mentioned areas,
  • Related scientific publications and/or industry experience
  • Implementation skills are a must
  • Familiarity with embedded systems will be an added advantage

Data Analytics (ZMH)

Position Expectation & Qualifications
Post-Doctoral The requirement of the expected candidates:

  • Candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely-related areas;
  • Solid background in the area of big data management and analytics, machine learning;
  • Experience with building systems and tools;
  • Track-record of publications in high-quality journals and/or conferences
Research Assistant The requirement of the expected candidates:

  • Candidates with a Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely-related areas;
  • Strong programming skills;
  • Preferably with the experience in systems building and empirical research

  • Candidates with a PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Applied Math;
  • Background in Cyber Security OR Software Engineering OR Machine Learning is a must

  • Experience in Network Security, Windows Kernel, Anomaly Detection, Predictions on unbalanced data is a plus

Post-doc Research Fellows (Autonomous Vehicle Security)

This project is aimed at developing novel approaches for assuring security in autonomous vehicles (AVs).

The key objectives of the project is advancing research in the area of developing safe and secure autonomous vehicles, which will be able to withstand not only accidental failures, but also malicious cyber-attacks, while providing required functions and performance. As an outcome of this research, an integrated AV safety and security modelling approach and a supporting software toolkit will be developed.

Available positions:

iTrust seeks to fill two post-doctoral researcher positions:

  1. Research Task “Autonomous vehicle safety and security alignment approach development”
  2. Research Task “Autonomous vehicle safety and security modelling toolkit development”

In the first research task, a comprehensive AV safety and security standards’ analysis will be performed, and an integrated approach for aligning AV safety and security will be developed.

In the second research task, a software toolkit will be developed, which will facilitate the use the alignment approach in practice. The toolkit will include graphical tools for building and inter-connecting various models, such as fault trees, attack trees, “goal trees-success trees”, etc. Furthermore, analytical tools to facilitate models’ analysis will be included in the toolkit.

Common requirements:

  • PhD in Engineering;
  • Interest and/or experience in cross-disciplinary research;
  • Interest and/or experience in safety and security;
  • Knowledge and/or experience in autonomous vehicle research;
  • International publication and presentation record;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Fluency in English.

Specific requirements for each position:

  1. Research Task “Autonomous vehicle safety and security alignment approach development”:
    • Knowledge and/or experience in safety and security standard analysis and their practical application.
  2. Research Task “Autonomous vehicle safety and security modelling toolkit development”:
    • Experience in graphical software tools’ development.

Expected starting date: November 2016

Contract duration: Both positions are for up to 2.5 years.
